Amid South by Southwest 2023, three groups came together; Project Venkman, Dreamspace, and Chive Media Group; to make a splash and raise awareness for the EarthLight Foundation. The EarthLight Foundation’s mission is to “protect and expand life and humanity beyond the motherworld,” so we could think of no better way to support this mission than by bringing in Captain Kirk–William Shatner.
As many of those who flock to SXSW yearly are tech enthusiasts, we knew we had to incorporate technology to draw them in and create a buzz. In alignment with our theme of celebrating the fantastic William Shatner, we created a custom DeepFake software for a one-of-a-kind AI photo booth–letting all attendees become William Shatner for a moment. Our re-invention of the classic photo booth experience sparked lively conversations and contributed to the night's fun.
We also created an AR holographic experience with the 8th wall platform, immersing people in Star Trek and space galore throughout the event. And the best part of the night? The one and only man of the hour, William Shatner, attended this one-of-a-kind technology showcase.
